Medicare & Medicare Advantage Members Using FreeStyle Libre 14, 2, and 3
Historically, we dispensed a quantity of 7 sensors with every 90-day order. 7 sensors equate to 98 days of supplies for every 90-day order, which results in an on-going oversupply. Medicare’s guidelines allow billing for alternating quantities of sensors to help avoid oversupply.
Example Of New Alternating Schedule
Your shipments with 98 days of supplies will support the shipments of 84 days of supplies. At the end of the year, you will end up with a surplus of 4 days of supplies.
Dexcom Manufacturer Sensor Update
Dexcom has updated their Replacement Policy for sensors. Failed sensors will continue to be replaced as needed. However, sensors that are non-defective (removed for procedures, application errors, etc) will be limited to 3 replacements per 12 month period.
Dexcom refers to these as ‘goodwill replacement sensors’. In order to obtain a goodwill replacement sensor, you will need to provide Dexcom with the Serial number to the faulty sensor. We highly suggest you hold onto the sensor's box throughout its use. This way, the serial number is easily accessible whenever you need it.
